I went to the supermarket and bought vegetables.

て — Sequential Connection
The て form connects actions in sequence (and then):
Pattern: V1(て), V2(て), V3(ます)。= Do V1, then V2, then V3.
Example: 朝起きて、顔を洗って、朝ごはんを食べます。(I wake up, wash my face, and eat breakfast.)
For adjectives:
- い-adj: い→くて — 安くておいしい (cheap and delicious)
- な-adj: な→で — 静かできれい (quiet and pretty)
Important: The final verb determines the tense and politeness of the whole sentence.
Wrong て form for adjectives; Changing tense on non-final verbs (only the last verb carries tense)
スーパーに行って、野菜を買いました。
I went to the supermarket and bought vegetables.
行って(いって, went — て form) + 野菜(やさい, vegetables) + を + 買いました(かいました, bought — final verb in past)
