La formazione del plurale in italiano segue regole basate sulla desinenza del singolare.

Parole invariabili (il plurale è uguale al singolare):
- Parole con accento finale: la città → le città, il caffè → i caffè
- Parole abbreviate: la foto → le foto, il cinema → i cinema, la moto → le moto
- Parole straniere: il bar → i bar, il computer → i computer
Häufige Fehlermuster
Adding -s for plural instead of Italian vowel change
Never add -s in Italian. Change the final vowel: -o→-i, -a→-e, -e→-i. Foreign words and abbreviations are invariable.
Wrong plural form for -co/-go or invariable nouns
Most -co → -chi (parco→parchi) but some → -ci (amico→amici). Words with final accent (città) and abbreviations (foto) don't change.
I libri sono sul tavolo.
The books are on the table.
Maskulin -o → -i im Plural.
Le case sono belle.
The houses are beautiful.
Feminin -a → -e im Plural.
Le città sono grandi e le foto sono belle.
The cities are big and the photos are beautiful.
Unveränderlich: città, foto, bar, cinema — gleiche Form in Singular und Plural.
