| the + adjective = group | the rich, the unemployed, the British |
| unique roles | the sun, the government, the internet — but: She was elected (zero) president |
- *the Mount Everest → Mount Everest; *Alps → the Alps
- *go to the school (as a pupil, GB) → go to school
- *the rich people are... fine, but the group: the rich + plural verb
