Wrap the question - unwind the inversion:

Inside the wrapper: statement order, no do/does/did. Yes/no questions need if/whether. Wrappers: Could you tell me..., Do you know..., I wonder..., I'd like to know...

  • Inversion kept inside: *tell me where is the station → where the station is
  • do/does inside the wrapper: *what time does it open (indirect) → what time it opens
