Mentor:
Welcome to Hausa! Let's see what you will learn in this first module about greetings and introductions.
Hide
After this module, you can...
- Greet people with the proper forms (Sannu, Ina kwana for morning, Ina wuni for afternoon)
- Ask "How are you?" using the correct gender form for your listener — Yaya kake? (to a man) or Yaya kike? (to a woman)
- Introduce yourself and say your name (Sunana..., Ni ... ne / Ni ... ce)
- Understand that Hausa has tone and vowel length, even though we write without tone marks
- Use authentic Kano standard Hausa with the Boko alphabet, including implosives ɓ, ɗ, and ƙ
- Say goodbye appropriately in different contexts (Sai anjima, Sai gobe)
