What you will learn in this module
Mentor:
Let's see what we'll learn in this module! Turkish is a fascinating language with a very regular grammar system.

After this module, you can...
- Greet and say goodbye — both formally (iyi günler, hoşça kalın) and informally (merhaba, güle güle). Turkish has a unique goodbye system: the leaver says hoşça kal, the stayer says güle güle!
- Introduce yourself — say your name (Benim adım…), nationality, and city (Ben İstanbul'dan geliyorum)
- Use personal pronouns correctly — ben, sen, o (I, you, he/she/it). Note: Turkish has no grammatical gender — o means he, she, AND it!
- Ask simple yes/no questions with the question particle mı / mi / mu / mü — it changes based on vowel harmony
- Make negative sentences with değil (not) — Ben öğretmen değilim (I am not a teacher)
- Recognize vowel harmony patterns — the most important rule in Turkish: back vowels (a, ı, o, u) and front vowels (e, i, ö, ü) stay in their groups within words
