Україна — це моя країна.
Ukraine is my country.
Мене звати Іван.
My name is Ivan.
Я люблю українську мову.
I love the Ukrainian language.
Pay attention to the highlighted parts. What do they have in common?
Українська абетка складається з 33 літер. Вона кирилична, але має літери, яких немає в російській: ґ, є, і, ї, а також апостроф (').

Увага: українська г — це м'який видих [ɦ] (як в англ. hand), а ґ — твердий [g] (як go). Апостроф розділяє приголосний і йотований голосний: п'ять, ім'я, сім'я.

Note ї in Україна [ukrajina] and the soft г in моя.
Мене звати Іван.
My name is Ivan.
Reading practice: і is [i], not [ɪ].
