Competencias para el examen:Expresión escritaExpresión oral

Mira estos ejemplos. ¿Puedes identificar el patrón gramatical?

Bydlím v Praze.

I live in Prague.

Mluvíme o novém filmu.

We are talking about a new film.

V tom městě je krásný park.

There is a beautiful park in that town.

Presta atención a las partes resaltadas. ¿Qué tienen en común?

6. pád (lokál) odpovídá na otázky o kom? o čem? kde? Používá se vždy s předložkou.

RodVzorKoncovkaPříklad
M (tvrdý)hrad-u/-ěv domě, na hradě
M (měkký)muž-io muži
M (tvrdý)pán-u/-ovio studentovi
N (tvrdý)město-ě/-uv městě, na letišti
N (měkký)moře-ina moři

Souhláskové alternace před -ě: h → z (Praha → v Praze), k → c (rok → v roce), ch → š (vzduch → ve vzduše), r → ř (doktor → o doktaře / doktorovi).

Pozor: Mnoho slov přijímá koncovku -u bez alternace: v parku, na balkoně/balkonu. U vlastních jmen životných se upřednostňuje -ovi: o Petrovi, o Tomášovi.

Ejercicios de práctica
Learners forget consonant alternations before -ě and mix up -u and -ě/-e endings for masculine nouns. 🇬🇧 English speakers: English has no locative case, so the entire concept of nouns changing form after prepositions like v/na/o is unfamiliar. Consonant alternations (h→z, k→c) add another layer of difficulty.

Patrones de errores comunes

Missing consonant alternation before locative -ě (e.g., *v Prahe instead of v Praze)

Before -ě: h→z (Praha→Praze), k→c (rok→roce), ch→š (vzduch→vzduše), r→ř (doktor→doktaře). Or use -u to avoid alternation.

Wrong locative ending for the declension pattern (e.g., -ě instead of -u or vice versa)

Hard masc. inanimate: -ě or -u (v domě / v parku). Soft masc.: -i (o muži). Animate: -ovi (o Petrovi). Check the vzor.

Bydlím v Praze.

I live in Prague.

Praha → Praze: h→z alternation before -e. Locative is always used with a preposition (v = in).

Mluvíme o novém filmu.

We are talking about a new film.

Film → filmu: masculine inanimate with -u ending (no alternation). O = about.

V tom městě je krásný park.

There is a beautiful park in that town.

Město → městě: neuter locative with -ě ending. The demonstrative ten → tom in locative.
