-er/-est для коротких прикметників, more/most для довгих, неправильні good/better/best і than/the

Зверніть увагу на виділені частини. Що у них спільного?
Довжина вирішує: короткі → -er/-est (older, the biggest), довгі → more/most (more modern), на -y → -ier (happier). Неправильні: good→better→best, bad→worse→worst. Порівняння через than (не *then!): Prague is older than Brno. Найвищий — завжди з the: the best café in town. Подвоєння: big→bigger.
