| V(た) + 後で | 食べた後で、歯を磨きます。 | After eating, I brush my teeth. |
| Noun + の + 前に | 授業の前に | Before class |
| Noun + の + 後で | 授業の後で | After class |
Key rule: 前に uses dictionary form (the action hasn't happened yet). 後で uses た form (the action is completed).
Using た form before 前に (食べた前に× → 食べる前に○); Using dictionary form before 後で (食べる後で× → 食べた後で○)
寝る前に、歯を磨きます。
Before sleeping, I brush my teeth.
寝る(ねる, sleep — dictionary form!) + 前に(before) + 歯(は, teeth) + を + 磨きます(みがきます, brush)
宿題をした後で、ゲームをします。
After doing homework, I play games.
宿題(しゅくだい, homework) + を + した(past of する — た form!) + 後で(after) + ゲーム(game) + を + します(do/play)
