Kolik je hodin? Odpověď závisí na hodině:
- Je jedna (hodina). — 1:00
- Jsou dvě (hodiny). — 2:00
- Jsou tři / čtyři (hodiny). — 3:00 / 4:00
- Je pět (hodin). — 5:00+
Minuty: čtvrt na (quarter past) + akuzativ číslovky, půl (half) + genitiv následující hodiny, tři čtvrtě na (quarter to) + akuzativ: čtvrt na dvě (1:15), půl druhé (1:30), tři čtvrtě na dvě (1:45).
Häufige Fehlermuster
Off by one hour when expressing half-hours (e.g., saying půl třetí for 3:30 instead of 2:30)
Půl + genitive of the NEXT hour: půl druhé = 1:30, půl třetí = 2:30. The number names the hour you're heading toward.
Wrong case in time expressions (e.g., *v šest hodiny instead of v šest hodin)
After 5+, use genitive plural hodin. After 2-4, use nominative plural hodiny. Je jedna hodina (singular).
Kolik je hodin? — Je půl třetí.
Wie viel Uhr ist es? — Es ist halb drei.
Půl třetí = half of the third hour = 2:30. The number is in genitive (třetí). Same logic as German halb drei.
Vstávám ráno v šest hodin.
Ich stehe morgens um sechs Uhr auf.
Ráno = in the morning. V + accusative for time: v šest hodin (at six o'clock).
Schůzka je ve čtvrt na čtyři.
Das Treffen ist um Viertel nach drei.
Čtvrt na čtyři = quarter towards four = 3:15. Na + accusative of the coming hour.
