Verb Types 1-3

Finnish verbs are classified by their infinitive ending. At A1, learn types 1-3:

Type 1 (-a/-ä): puhua, asua, lukea
Type 2 (-da/-dä): syödä, juoda
Type 3 (-la/-lä, -na/-nä, -ra/-rä, -sta/-stä): tulla, mennä, nousta

Key rule: 3rd person singular has a long vowel in types 1 & 3 (hän puhuu, hän tulee).
