Common Error Patterns

Assigned wrong gender to a noun

Learn nouns with articles. Use ending patterns: -tion/-sion/-ure/-ée = feminine; -age/-ment/-eau = masculine.

Le garçon (masculine) — male person. Une pomme (feminine) — common noun, must be memorized.

Words ending in -tion are feminine (la situation). Words ending in -sion are also feminine (l'occasion).
