क्रियाविशेषण — Adverbs

Hindi adverbs are invariable — they don't change for gender or number. They typically appear before the verb.

TypeExamples
Placeयहाँ (here), वहाँ (there), कहाँ (where), ऊपर (above), नीचे (below), अन्दर (inside), बाहर (outside)
Timeअभी (now), फिर (then/again), हमेशा (always), कभी (sometimes), पहले (before), अक्सर (often)
Mannerधीरे (slowly), जल्दी (quickly), अच्छी तरह (well), ज़ोर से (loudly)
Degreeबहुत (very), थोड़ा (a little), काफ़ी (quite), बिलकुल (completely)

Position: Usually before verb — मैं धीरे चलता हूँ.

Learners place adverbs after the verb (English order) instead of before it. 🇬🇧 English: 'I walk slowly' — adverb after verb. Hindi: मैं धीरे चलता हूँ — adverb before verb. 🇩🇪 German: German adverb placement is flexible but often mid-sentence — similar to Hindi pre-verb position.

यहाँ आओ।

Come here.

यहाँ = here (place adverb). Invariable — no endings.

वह हमेशा देर से आता है।

He always comes late.

हमेशा = always, देर से = late. Both adverbs before the verb.

धीरे बोलो, बच्चा सो रहा है।

Speak softly, the baby is sleeping.

धीरे = slowly/softly (manner). Placed before verb बोलो.

मुझे बहुत भूख लगी है।

I am very hungry.

बहुत = very (degree). Intensifies भूख (hunger).
