Common Error Patterns

Wrong verb ending

Endings: ech -en, du -s, hien/si/hatt -t, mir -en, dir -t, si -en

Ech schwätzen dräi Sproochen.

Schwätzen: regular -en ending for ech. N-rule: ech schwätze Lëtzebuergesch (before L).

Du schaffs an der Stad.

You work in the city.

Du + -s ending. Schaffen means 'to work' (not 'to create' like German schaffen).

Si wunnt zu Esch.

She lives in Esch.

3rd person -t ending. Zu = in (for cities), like German 'in'.
