Numbers 0-100
0-20 are unique words, then tens + units: dwadzieścia pięć (25). Gender: jeden/jedna/jedno, dwa/dwie. Age uses mieć + genitive (mam 25 lat).
Gender agreement of jeden (m/f/n) and dwa/dwie (m vs f) is the main challenge.
Mam dwie siostry.
I have two sisters.
Mam dwie siostry — dwie (feminine form of 'two') because siostry (sisters) is feminine. Masculine would be dwa.
Mam dwadzieścia pięć lat.
I am twenty-five years old.
Mam dwadzieścia pięć lat — numbers 21+ are said tens first: dwadzieścia pięć (twenty five). Age uses mieć + lat (genitive plural of rok).
Jest jedno okno.
There is one window.
Jest jedno okno — jedno is the neuter form of jeden (one). Masculine: jeden dom. Feminine: jedna kobieta.
