Posição:

  • Depois (padrão): um carro vermelho (a red car)
  • Antes (ênfase/afetivo): um bom amigo, uma grande cidade
  • Muda sentido: um homem grande (big) vs um grande homem (great)
Forgetting agreement: casa bonito* → casa bonita. Placing adjectives before nouns by default (English habit). 🇬🇧 English speakers: English adjectives don't change and go BEFORE nouns. Portuguese: AFTER noun + gender/number agreement.

A casa é bonita.

The house is beautiful.

Casa (feminine) → bonita (feminine form). If it were 'o carro', it would be 'bonito'.

Ele é um grande homem.

He is a great man.

Grande BEFORE noun = great (figurative). After: um homem grande = a big/tall man (physical).

As flores amarelas são lindas.

The yellow flowers are beautiful.

Flores (fem. pl.) → amarelas (fem. pl.) + lindas (fem. pl.). All agree in gender AND number.
