As palavras interrogativas do português. Nota: a distinção por que / porque / porquê / por quê!

Estrutura: Em BP oral, a ordem das palavras frequentemente não inverte: Onde você mora? (não *Onde mora você?). Em EP, inversão é mais comum.

Where do you live?
Onde = where. In BP, no inversion needed: Onde + subject + verb. EP might invert: Onde mora?
Por que você estuda português?
Why do you study Portuguese?
Por que (two words, question) vs porque (one word, answer). 'Porque eu gosto' = Because I like it.
Quanto custa isso?
How much does this cost?
Quanto (masc.) for 'how much'. Quanta (fem.) agrees: Quanta água? Quantos/quantas for 'how many'.
