Polite particles: ครับ (male), ค่ะ (female statement), คะ (female question)
I can use polite particles correctly.
Look at these examples. Can you spot the grammar pattern?
สวัสดีครับ ผมชื่อสมชายครับ
Hello! My name is Somchai.
สบายดีค่ะ ขอบคุณค่ะ
I'm fine, thank you. (female)
สบายดีไหมคะ?
How are you? (female asking)
ครับ ได้ครับ
Yes. Sure!
Pay attention to the highlighted parts. What do they have in common?
Every polite Thai sentence ends with a particle:

|---|---|---|
| Male | ครับ (khráp) | ครับ (khráp) |
| Female | ค่ะ (khâ) — falling | คะ (khá) — high |
Without these, Thai sounds rude — like English without 'please'. Even the Thai king uses them!

Female statement: ค่ะ (falling tone). Used for ALL statements by women.
สบายดีไหมคะ?
How are you? (female asking)
Female QUESTION: คะ (HIGH tone), not ค่ะ (falling). This is the key difference!

ครับ alone = 'yes' (male). Also used to show you're listening: ครับ...ครับ...
