Can embed questions politely in longer sentences

Indirect questions report a question within another sentence. The conjugated verb goes to the end.

Common introductory phrases: Ich weiß nicht...; Können Sie mir sagen...; Ich frage mich...; Ich möchte wissen...
Very useful for polite requests: Können Sie mir sagen, wo der Bahnhof ist?
- Keeping question word order: ✗ wo ist er → ✓ wo er ist.
- Using ob for W-questions: ✗ ob wo er wohnt → ✓ wo er wohnt.
- Question mark: Ich weiß, wo er wohnt. (statement) vs. Weißt du, wo er wohnt?
Patrones de errores comunes
Verb not in second position in main clause
Count positions: element 1 + VERB + rest. The verb is always second.
Wrong word order in subordinate clause
In subordinate clauses (weil, dass, wenn...) the verb goes to the END
Wrong connector or connector type used
Review: coordinating (und, aber, oder) vs subordinating (weil, dass, wenn) conjunctions

Polite indirect question. Ist at the end.
