Зміст один - механіка різна: although/though + речення (Although it rained, we hiked - хоча йшов дощ), despite / in spite of + іменник або -ing (Despite the rain - попри дощ, despite being tired). Рятівний люк для речення після despite: despite the fact that it rained. Класична помилка: *despite of - of є лише в in spite OF. Розмовне though вміє стояти в кінці: It was fun, though (а все-таки було весело).
