Hi Lucía, I'm writing to tell you that in the end they've given me the bookshop job.

I don't know what it's called, but it's a thing you use to open tins.

Honestly, I prefer the train. The good thing about the AVE is that you arrive rested; the car, on the other hand, leaves you shattered.

Perdón, no le he entendido bien.

Do not memorise long formal formulas for a friendly email — the A2 written task is usually informal. And note the colon after the greeting: 'Hola, Marta:' is Spanish punctuation, 'Hola Marta,' is English punctuation. 🇺🇦 Ukrainian speakers: Same. And 'ну' maps neatly onto 'bueno' as a thinking word.

Hi Lucía, I'm writing to tell you that in the end they've given me the bookshop job.

Colon after the greeting, 'te escribo para' to state the purpose: the standard opening of the A2 writing task.

I don't know what it's called, but it's a thing you use to open tins.

The examiner rewards this: describing your way around a missing word is a communicative strategy, not a failure.

Honestly, I prefer the train. The good thing about the AVE is that you arrive rested; the car, on the other hand, leaves you shattered.

'La verdad es que', 'lo bueno de' and 'en cambio' are exactly what the comparison task is looking for.
