Hablo español e inglés.

No es caro, sino barato.
It's not expensive, but rather cheap.
Estudio español porque me gusta mucho.
I study Spanish because I like it a lot.

Las conjunciones conectan palabras, frases u oraciones:

| y | and | Hablo español y francés. |
| e | and (before i-/hi-) | Padre e hijo. |
| o | or | ¿Café o té? |
| u | or (before o-/ho-) | Siete u ocho. |
| pero | but | Es caro, pero es bueno. |
| sino | but rather (after negative) | No es rojo, sino azul. |
| porque | because | Estudio porque me gusta. |
| que | that | Creo que sí. |
Y → E before words starting with i- or hi-: español e inglés (not *español y inglés).
O → U before words starting with o- or ho-: siete u ocho.
Forgetting y→e and o→u sound changes. Also confusing pero and sino.

Y → E before words starting with i-/hi-. 'Español e inglés' (not *español y inglés).
No es caro, sino barato.
It's not expensive, but rather cheap.
Sino = but rather (correcting a negative). Pero = but (contrast). *'No es caro, pero barato' is wrong.
Estudio español porque me gusta mucho.
I study Spanish because I like it a lot.
Porque (1 word, no accent) = because. Remember: por qué (2 words, accent) = why.
