Pay attention to the highlighted parts. What do they have in common?

Practice Exercises
Assuming -a is always feminine (o dia, o mapa, o problema). Assuming -e nouns are masculine (a noite, a cidade). 🇬🇧 English speakers: No grammatical gender in English — must memorize every noun's gender. Learn with the article: 'o livro', not just 'livro'.

O livro é bom.

The book is good.

Livro ends in -o → masculine → o livro. Adjective 'bom' matches masculine.

A cidade é bonita.

The city is beautiful.

Cidade ends in -dade → always feminine → a cidade. Adjective 'bonita' matches feminine.

O problema é grande.

The problem is big.

Problema ends in -a BUT is masculine (Greek origin -ma). Common trap! O problema, o sistema, o programa.
