Practice Exercises
Using है for all persons instead of matching the pronoun (हूँ/हो/हैं). 🇬🇧 English: English 'am/is/are' maps to हूँ/है/हो/हैं — but Hindi has 4 forms vs English's 3. Note: तुम हो has no exact German parallel (du bist is closer to तू है).

Common Error Patterns

Wrong form of होना for the subject

Omitting होना (influence from Russian/pro-drop)

Hindi never drops होना in present: मैं छात्र हूँ (not मैं छात्र)

I am a teacher.

मैं always pairs with हूँ.

He/She is happy.

Where are you? (informal)

तुम takes the unique form हो.

We are not ready.

Negation: नहीं before हैं.
