Possessive Pronouns

Polish possessives agree in gender, number, and case with the noun they modify.

PersonMasc.Fem.Neut.
Imójmojamoje
youtwójtwojatwoje
hejego (invariable)
shejej (invariable)
wenasznaszanasze
you (pl.)waszwaszawasze
theyich (invariable)

Learners forget gender agreement: mój mama instead of moja mama. jego/jej/ich are invariable.

To jest mój pies.

This is my dog.

mój pies — masculine noun, so mój (not moja/moje).

Jej kot jest piękny.

Her cat is beautiful.

jej kot — jej is invariable (never changes for gender/case).

Nasz dom jest duży.

Our house is big.

nasze dom → nasz dom — dom is masculine, so nasz (not nasza/nasze).
