A good translation strategy is the single most important thing a beginner can carry into a Latin sentence. Latin does not line up its words the way English does, so reading left to right and hoping for the best fails fast. Instead you read the endings, and you have a plan. This topic gives you that plan.
A reliable order of attack for a short sentence:
Worked example: Puellam magister in horto videt.
For English speakers: your deepest habit is that word order carries the meaning, so you will read Puellam magister videt as "the girl sees the teacher" because puellam comes first. That is the classic beginner's error. Latin word order is flexible and often stylistic; the endings assign the roles. Puellam ends in -am, so it is the object no matter where it sits. Read endings, not order, and always find the verb first.

Вправи для практикиThe rose delights the girl.
The first word is not the subject: puellam is accusative, so it is the object. Read the endings before the order.
He did it with great effort.
The preposition cum sits inside the noun phrase, which is normal in Latin. Group words by agreement, not by adjacency.
