Das deutsche Alphabet hat 26 Buchstaben plus die Sonderzeichen ä, ö, ü (Umlaute) und ß (Eszett). Jeder Buchstabe hat einen eigenen Namen, den man zum Buchstabieren braucht.
Wichtige Ausspracheregeln:

Vokallänge: Doppelvokale und Vokal + h sind lang (Haar, Uhr). Ein Vokal vor Doppelkonsonant ist kurz (Sonne, Mutter). Die Unterscheidung kurz/lang ist wichtig für die Bedeutung: Staat (state) vs. Stadt (city).
Tipp: CH hat zwei Laute: nach a/o/u klingt es hart [x] (Buch), nach e/i/ä/ö/ü weich [ç] (ich, Milch).
