This final group completes the 28-letter alphabet. Key sounds:

LetterSoundNote
عʿaynVoiced pharyngeal — unique to Arabic/Semitic
غghaynLike French/German r (غ ≈ Parisian r)
قqāfDeep uvular k — from back of throat
ط/ظṭāʾ/ẓāʾEmphatic t / emphatic th

و and ي serve double duty: as consonants (w, y) and as long vowels (ū, ī). ه at word-end can be confused with ة (tāʾ marbūṭa). ع (ʿayn) is the hardest sound for most learners.

ع (ʿayn) is the most difficult Arabic sound — learners often drop it or replace it with a glottal stop. ق/ك confusion is common. 🇬🇧 English: No ع or ق in English. غ often mispronounced as 'g'. 🇩🇪 German: غ is close to uvular r in German, making it easier. ع remains hard.
