Ven aquí, por favor.
Come here, please.
El baño está arriba.
The bathroom is upstairs.

Pay attention to the highlighted parts. What do they have in common?
Adverbios de lugar indican dónde ocurre algo:

| aquí | here | Ven aquí. |
| ahí | there (near you) | El libro está ahí. |
| allí / allá | over there | Vive allí. |
| cerca | near | El parque está cerca. |
| lejos | far | El aeropuerto está lejos. |
| arriba | up / upstairs | El baño está arriba. |
| abajo | down / downstairs | La cocina está abajo. |
| dentro | inside | Está dentro de la caja. |
| fuera | outside | Los niños están fuera. |
Nota: aquí/ahí/allí sigue el mismo sistema de 3 distancias que este/ese/aquel.

Come here, please.
Aquí = here (near the speaker).
El baño está arriba.
The bathroom is upstairs.
Arriba = upstairs/up. Abajo = downstairs/down.
¿Está lejos la estación?
Is the station far?
Lejos = far. Cerca = near. No preposition needed when used alone.
