Practice Exercises
Assuming all -ão words follow one plural pattern. Forgetting -l→-is (animal → animais, not animales). Applying Spanish plural rules. 🇬🇧 English speakers: English just adds -s. Portuguese -ão→-ões/-ães/-ãos, -l→-is, -m→-ns are complex. Memorize the common ones.

Os limões são amarelos.

The lemons are yellow.

Limão → limões (-ão → -ões, most common pattern). Os + amarelos (both plural masculine).

Os pães estão frescos.

The breads are fresh.

Pão → pães (irregular -ão → -ães). Also: cão → cães. Must memorize these exceptions.

Os animais são bonitos.

The animals are beautiful.

Animal → animais (-l → -is). Also: papel → papéis, hotel → hotéis. Note accent shift!
