Practice Exercises
Mixing BP and EP forms. Using present continuous for habitual actions (overuse from English). Incorrect gerund: comindo* → comendo. 🇬🇧 English speakers: English '-ing' overused! Portuguese continuous is ONLY for right now. 'I am studying medicine' (habitual) = Estudo medicina (simple present).

Estou estudando português.

I am studying Portuguese.

BP form: estar + gerúndio (estudando). EP form: Estou a estudar. Both = right now, not habitual!

O que você está fazendo?

What are you doing?

Estar + fazendo (gerund of fazer). This is THE most common continuous phrase. EP: O que está a fazer?

As crianças estão dormindo.

The children are sleeping.

Dormir → dormindo (-ir verbs: -indo). EP: As crianças estão a dormir.
