The genitive case for possession
Can express possession using the genitive
Look at these examples. Can you spot the grammar pattern?
Το σπίτι του Γιάννη είναι μεγάλο.
Yannis's house is big.
Η πόρτα του σπιτιού.
The door of the house.
Pay attention to the highlighted parts. What do they have in common?
Expresses possession. The possessor comes AFTER the thing possessed: το σπίτι του Γιάννη = Yannis's house.
