Question Words

τι (what), ποιος (who/which), πού (where), πότε (when), πώς (how), γιατί (why), πόσο (how much). Note: accents distinguish πού/που and πώς/πως.

'How are you?' = Τι κάνεις; (uses τι, not πώς). 'What's your name?' = Πώς σε λένε; (uses πώς, not τι). Don't translate directly!

Πώς σε λένε;

What is your name?

Literally: 'How do they call you?' — the standard Greek way to ask someone's name.

Πόσο κάνει αυτό;

How much does this cost?

πόσο (how much) + κάνει (does/makes) + αυτό (this).
