Can express possession using possessive pronouns
Look at these examples. Can you spot the grammar pattern?
Το σπίτι μου είναι μικρό.
My house is small.
Η μητέρα της μένει στην Αθήνα.
Her mother lives in Athens.
Pay attention to the highlighted parts. What do they have in common?
Possessive Pronouns
Placed after the noun: article + noun + μου/σου/του/της/μας/σας/τους. Article is always present.
English: 'my book'. Greek: 'the book my' (το βιβλίο μου). Always keep the article! Don't say 'βιβλίο μου'.
Το σπίτι μου είναι μικρό.
My house is small.
Article ΤΟ + noun σπίτι + μου. Never drop the article.
Η μητέρα της μένει στην Αθήνα.
Her mother lives in Athens.
της = her. Article η + noun μητέρα + της.
