Hogy-mellékmondatok
hogy (that) introduces subordinate clauses. The subordinate verb goes to the end: Tudom, hogy magyar vagy (I know that you're Hungarian).
After verbs of wanting/wishing, the subjunctive is used in the subordinate clause: Szeretném, hogy gyere (I'd like you to come).
Common Error Patterns
Omitting the obligatory comma before 'hogy' in written Hungarian subordinate clauses.
Placing the verb in the middle of a 'hogy' clause instead of at or near the end.
Tudom, hogy holnap esni fog.
I know that it will rain tomorrow.
'Hogy' introduces the subordinate clause. Verb 'fog' comes at the end of the clause in Hungarian.
Remélem, hogy jól érzed magad.
I hope that you feel well.
'Remélem, hogy...' = I hope that... The comma before 'hogy' is obligatory in Hungarian.
Látom, hogy fáradt vagy.
I can see that you're tired.
Perception verbs like 'látom' (I see) commonly take 'hogy' clauses in Hungarian.
