日本語は難しいですが、おもしろいです。

Japanese is difficult, but interesting.

Pay attention to the highlighted parts. What do they have in common?

けど・が — But / However

[Clause A] けど/が、[Clause B]。

Casual〜けど高いけど、おいしい。(It's expensive but delicious.)
Polite〜けれども / 〜が高いですが、おいしいです。

Also used as a soft intro: すみませんが、ちょっと… (Excuse me, but...) — が/けど softens the request.

Using でも at the beginning instead of けど/が between clauses; Mixing up が (but) with が (subject marker)

日本語は難しいですが、おもしろいです。

Japanese is difficult, but interesting.

難しいです(difficult) + が(but, polite) + おもしろいです(interesting)
