とき — When
[Condition] とき、[Action]。 = When [condition], [action].

Nuance: Dictionary form + とき = before/during the action. Past form + とき = after completing the action.

子供(こども, child) + の(noun before とき) + とき(when) + よく(often) + 公園(こうえん, park) + で + 遊びました(あそびました, played)
