すぎる — Too Much
Attach すぎる to adjective stems or verb stems to mean 'too much'.

| な-adj | stem + すぎる | 静か → 静かすぎる (too quiet) |

すぎる itself is a Group 2 verb: すぎます, すぎない, すぎました.
Keeping い when attaching to い-adj (高いすぎる× → 高すぎる○)
昨日食べすぎました。
I ate too much yesterday.
食べる → 食べ(ます stem) + すぎました(too much, past polite)
この部屋は暑すぎます。
This room is too hot.
暑い(あつい, hot) → 暑(drop い) + すぎます(too much)
