Ксенопоказатели: мол, дескать, якобы

I can relay others' words with мол/дескать/якобы at the right trust level.
Look at these examples. Can you spot the grammar pattern?
Сосед уверяет, что трубу прорвало якобы ещё до его заселения.
The neighbour insists the pipe burst allegedly before he even moved in.
Махнул рукой: мол, идите без меня, я догоню.
He waved us off: go without me, he said, I'll catch up.
Pay attention to the highlighted parts. What do they have in common?

Это конденсированная косвенная речь: вместо «он сказал, что...» - вставка мол/дескать прямо в пересказ.
