The cat is under the table.
La farmacia está al lado del banco.
The pharmacy is next to the bank.
El parque está entre la iglesia y el museo.
The park is between the church and the museum.

Las preposiciones de lugar indican la posición de objetos y personas:

| en | in, on, at | El libro está en la mesa. |
| sobre | on (top of) | El gato está sobre la cama. |
| debajo de | under | El perro está debajo de la mesa. |
| encima de | on top of | La lámpara está encima de la mesa. |
| delante de | in front of | El coche está delante de la casa. |
| detrás de | behind | El jardín está detrás de la casa. |
| al lado de | next to | La farmacia está al lado del banco. |
| entre | between | El parque está entre la iglesia y el cine. |
| cerca de | near | Vivo cerca del centro. |
| lejos de | far from | El aeropuerto está lejos del centro. |
Nota: Many use de: debajo de, delante de, al lado de. Don't forget the de!

debajo de = under. Don't forget 'de': *debajo la mesa is wrong.
La farmacia está al lado del banco.
The pharmacy is next to the bank.
al lado de = next to. 'del banco' = de + el banco (mandatory contraction).
El parque está entre la iglesia y el museo.
The park is between the church and the museum.
entre = between. Unlike other prepositions, 'entre' does NOT use 'de'.
