Practice Exercises
Forgetting the preposition: Gosto café* → Gosto de café. Confusing with adorar (which has NO preposition: Adoro café). 🇬🇧 English speakers: English 'I like coffee' has no preposition. Portuguese 'Eu gosto DE café' always needs DE. Never forget it!

Eu gosto de música brasileira.

I like Brazilian music.

Gostar DE — the preposition is mandatory! De música (general). If specific: da música (de + a).

Ela gosta de cozinhar.

She likes to cook.

Gostar de + infinitive = like to do something. De is required even before verbs!

Não gostamos daquele restaurante.

We don't like that restaurant.

Daquele = de + aquele (contraction with demonstrative). Gostar de always contracts with articles/demonstratives.
