Eu tenho fome.
I am hungry.
Ela tem trinta anos.
She is thirty years old.
Vocês têm razão.
You are right.
Pay attention to the highlighted parts. What do they have in common?
O verbo ter (to have) é irregular e muito importante — usado em muitas expressões onde o inglês usa 'to be'.

Expressões com TER (onde o inglês usa 'to be'):
- ter fome — to be hungry (ter hunger)
- ter sede — to be thirsty
- ter sono — to be sleepy
- ter frio/calor — to be cold/hot
- ter medo — to be afraid
- ter razão — to be right
- ter pressa — to be in a hurry
- ter X anos — to be X years old
Nota BP: Tem e têm soam igual no Brasil! Só o circunflexo no plural.
Eu tenho fome.
I am hungry.
Ter fome = to have hunger (NOT 'to be hungry'). Like German/Czech but opposite of English!
Ela tem trinta anos.
She is thirty years old.
Ter anos = to have years (age). NOT ser/estar. 'Ela é trinta anos' is WRONG.
Vocês têm razão.
You are right.
Têm (3rd pl.) with circumflex accent. Tem (3rd sg.) has no accent. Both sound the same in BP!
