The reflexive possessive svůj: it always points to the subject of the clause, replacing můj/tvůj/jeho in that role
I can use svůj correctly whenever the possessor is the subject and hear the difference from jeho.

Everyone carries their own suitcase — I am carrying yours too.
Jana pozvala Petra a jeho sestru na svou chatu.
Jana invited Petr and his sister to her cottage.
Vážíme si svých učitelů.
We hold our teachers in high regard.

Svůj přivlastňuje podmětu věty — bez ohledu na osobu:
