Helyhatározók: -nál/-nél, -tól/-től

Pay attention to the highlighted parts. What do they have in common?
Helyhatározók: -nál/-nél, -tól/-től
-nál/-nél = at / near (location): Az orvosnál vagyok (I'm at the doctor's).
-tól/-től = from (origin/separation): Az orvostól jövök (I'm coming from the doctor's).
Vowel harmony: back vowels → -nál/-tól; front vowels → -nél/-től.
Common Error Patterns
Using -nál with front-vowel words or -nél with back-vowel words instead of correct harmony.
Confusing -nál/-nél (at/near) with -ban/-ben (inside) — different spatial relationships.
Az orvosnál vagyok.
I'm at the doctor's.
'-nál' attaches to 'orvos' (doctor, back vowel). Indicates being at someone's place.
Az orvostól jövök.
I'm coming from the doctor's.
'-tól' marks separation or movement away from a place/person.
A barátomnál aludtam.
I slept at my friend's place.
'Barátomnál' = barát (friend) + possessive -om + -nál. The suffix follows the possessive ending.
