Demonstratives цей (this), той (that), такий (such) — agreement by gender/number
I can use Ukrainian demonstratives цей/той/такий with correct agreement and the presentational це.
Look at these examples. Can you spot the grammar pattern?
Цей будинок старий, а той новий — обидва на Подолі.
This house is old and that one new - both in Podil.
Це моя улюблена книга — «Кобзар».
This is my favourite book - Kobzar.
Мені подобаються такі писанки.
I like pysanky like these.
Pay attention to the highlighted parts. What do they have in common?
Вказівні займенники вказують на предмет і узгоджуються з іменником у роді, числі та відмінку:

Нейтральне це вживають у реченнях-визначеннях незалежно від роду: Це мій друг. Це книга. Це діти. (This is… / These are…)
Не плутайте: це (це — that-is, presentational) і цей/ця/ці (узгоджений із іменником: цей дім).
