Regularizing irregular participles: *prenduto instead of preso, *scrivuto instead of scritto. These must be memorized. 🇬🇧 English speakers: English irregular past participles exist (written, spoken, taken) — similar concept. Many Italian irregulars share Latin roots with English.

Common irregulars: fatto (not *facuto), scritto (not *scrivuto), letto (not *legguto), preso (not *prenduto), detto (not *dicuto), visto (not *veduto).

Wrong regular participle ending

Regular pattern: -are→-ato (parlato), -ere→-uto (venduto), -ire→-ito (dormito). Remove infinitive ending, add participle ending.

Ho parlato, ho venduto, ho dormito.

I spoke, I sold, I slept — regular participles.
