I modali si usano con l'infinito: Posso parlare? Voglio mangiare. Devo andare.

Conjugating both the modal and the main verb, or using wrong form
Modal verb pattern: conjugated modal + INFINITIVE. Voglio mangiare (not *voglio mangio).
Vado al supermercato.
I go to the supermarket.
Andare: vado/vai/va/andiamo/andate/vanno — Stammwechsel im Sg. und 3. Pl.
Cosa fai? Faccio il caffè.
What are you doing? I am making coffee.
Fare = tun/machen. Unregelmäßig: faccio/fai/fa/facciamo/fate/fanno.
Voglio mangiare ma devo lavorare.
I want to eat but I have to work.
Modal + Infinitiv: voglio/puoi/deve + Verb im Infinitiv.
