Pay attention to the highlighted parts. What do they have in common?
בניין הפעיל מבטא לרוב גרימה: לגרום למישהו לעשות משהו. הוא מתחיל תמיד ב-מַ- בהווה.
תבנית: מַ + שורש + ִי: מַזְמִין (מ), מַזְמִינָה (נ), מַזְמִינִים, מַזְמִינוֹת.
דוגמאות: מַסְבִּיר (מסביר), מַתְחִיל (מתחיל).
Common Error Patterns
Confusing מַ- (Hif'il) with מְ- (Pi'el) prefix
Wrong number/gender agreement in Hif'il conjugation
הוא מַזְמִין אורחים לערב.
He is inviting guests for the evening.
Hif'il present masc. sg.: מַזְמִין. Prefix מַ- distinguishes Hif'il from Pi'el (מְ-).
המורה מַסְבִּירָה את השיעור.
The teacher (f) explains the lesson.
Hif'il present fem. sg.: מַסְבִּירָה. Fem. suffix ה- added to the stem.
אנחנו מַתְחִילִים עכשיו.
We are beginning now.
Hif'il present masc. pl.: מַתְחִילִים. Root ת-ח-ל (begin), plural suffix ים-.
