Hungarian indefinite present tense conjugation with vowel harmony
I can conjugate regular Hungarian verbs in the present tense for all persons.
Look at these examples. Can you spot the grammar pattern?
Minden reggel kávét iszom.
I drink coffee every morning.
Angolul és magyarul beszélünk.
We speak English and Hungarian.
Ők sokat dolgoznak.
They work a lot.
Pay attention to the highlighted parts. What do they have in common?
Indefinite Conjugation: Present Tense
Endings depend on vowel harmony: back vowels (a, á, o, ó, u, ú) vs front vowels (e, é, i, í, ö, ő, ü, ű).

Check vowel harmony before choosing ending. ő/she/he/it has NO ending (zero suffix). Don't add -ok to front-vowel verbs.
Minden reggel kávét iszom.
I drink coffee every morning.
Iszik (to drink): back vowel → én: iszom (irregular -m for én with sz-verbs).
Angolul és magyarul beszélünk.
We speak English and Hungarian.
Beszél (to speak): front vowel → mi: beszél+ünk. Front rounded vowels use -ünk/-ük.
Ők sokat dolgoznak.
They work a lot.
Dolgozik (to work): back vowel → ők: dolgoz+nak. Note: ők drops -ik before -nak.
